4 www.unisdr.org 4 HFA Strategic goals Strategic Goal 1 The more effective integration of disaster risk considerations into sustainable development policies, planning and programming at all levels, with a special emphasis on disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness and vulnerability reduction.

9 www.unisdr.org 9 Increasing participation of civil society in DRM DRR is included in UNDAF as a cross-cutting issue Disaster management viewed more as a development issue Work on establishment of the Central Asia Coordination Center for DP and DRR DRR Initiative in Ferghana Valley Submission of national reports by four countries in 2009 (two countries in 2007) Work on establishment of national platforms in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan HFA Priority I Disaster risk reduction – national and local priority, with strong institutional base for implementation
