Iomega Confidential 3 Overview: Home Media Network Hard Drive The Home Media Network Hard Drive is a complete redesign of the Home Network Hard Drive with the customer in mind. This device has been designed from the ground up with an streamlined UI, simplified client interface, and reliance on the operating system’s own user login for protection. From the Home Storage Manager client- side tool to the web administration tools, the Home Media Network Hard Drive is unlike anything Iomega has done before. Home Storage Manager client software provides easy and automatic handling of public and private shares. After the client software is installed, all public shares are mounted automatically within My Computer or on the Mac Desktop. Any adjustment within the Web UI of the Home Media Network Drive is detected by the client software and immediately acted upon. Most basic users won’t need to make any changes to immediately utilize the DLNA and iTunes server built in to this device.

This network hard drive automatically streams movies using the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards and audio using iTunes server capabilities. Securing folders to protect your personal information is a breeze. Home Storage Manager automatically notifies you when a secure location is available to access. The Home Media Network Hard Drive allows remote access to your files and introduces BitTorrent and FTP features. (New with 2.0) The interface for the Home Media Network Hard Drive has been expanded to include Remote Access to your files. With the introduction of the “ActiveFolders” system, BitTorrent downloads and FTP support is as simple as dragging and dropping your files.

Insert the CD… –Perform the Automatic Installation of the Home Media Network Hard Drive software. –After the installation completes, open My Computer and all detected public shares will have been mounted automatically. Using the Home Storage Manager client tool… –The client tool will sit in the task tray or Menu Bar near the clock. –Launching the tool from the task tray will show you all available shares on the device. –From the interface you to scan for devices or select another if you have multiple Home Media Network Hard Drives on the network. –Clicking configure will launch the web administration page. Iomega Confidential 8 How it works: Users and Sharing Folders How to add users: –The user is added by their OS login name when they install the Home Storage Manager software (or at next login). –When Home Storage Manager detects the device, it also automatically adds them as a potential user that can immediately access Public shares and will also show up in the Web Administration utility as users available to access Secure shares. How to access public and secure shares: –When the Home Storage Manager runs on the client, it will automatically map all Public Shares available which is then visible in My Computer or Desktop. (By Default, there are 5.) –When you have been assigned to a Secure Share via the Web Administration utility, you will receive a notification from the Home Storage Manager asking you for a password (this is only required the first time). –From then on, when you log in to your computer, the Home Storage Manager will recognize your login name and automatically reconnect to all accessible shares, both Public and Secure. Iomega Confidential 9 How it works: The First Use Experience The Login Page is not displayed: –On the first use of the product (and after it has gone through a factory reset), the drive will not have an Administrator password. –You can set this password in System > System Tasks > Admin Password. –After the password is set, it will prompt you for a login password when you connect. –When logging in to the device with a password, you will see a Logout button near the Help button. Iomega Confidential 10 How it works: Enabling Remote Access Enabling Remote Access –The user must enable Remote Access by: Clicking on Home on the left navigation bar Click on the Remote Access tab On the Remote Access control, click on the switch to Enable or Disable the Remote Access –The Remote Access client will go through a number of self checks to verify that it is properly connected to the Internet 1.It will verify that it is operating correctly (self-check) 2.It will verify that it has a connection to the Internet and it will determine the current external IP address by connecting to TZO 3.It will then check to see if TZO can reach back to your Home Media Network Hard Drive verifying that your network has been configured properly to receive external communications –When you see a green check box on all steps, this means that the system has correctly connected to the Internet in Remote Access mode and is now enabled Note: If you have not set an Admin or Remote Access password, you will be asked to create these when first enabling Remote Access Version 2.0 Features
