What is iConnect?
Features of iConnect The Iomega iConnect is based on the existing Lifeline 2.1 and has some of the existing features of the ix2-200 and ix4-200d. The only change is the addition of the wireless client.

3. Overview of iConnect
iConnect Wireless Data Station is a fully functional NAS device that uses USB-attached storage in the form of Flash Drives or Portable Hard Drives* and External Hard Drives to serve as its storage mediums.
iConnect Wireless Data Station can be configured to function as a wireless client, allowing you to have your storage available via b/g/n after it is properly connected. The device must be configured via wired Ethernet first before it can be used as a wireless device. It will not act as a wireless access point.
iConnect Wireless Data Station uses a portable version of EMC’s Lifeline 2.1 firmware. Only settings and features necessary for a home environment have been implemented on this device to offer a simplified NAS device for home use.
* Note: The power constraints on this device will allow only one portable drive that doesn’t require external power.

5. Basic iConnect Features
External Storage: since the iConnect does not have its own built-in storage. It shares the external storage that is attached to it. When the external storage is first plugged in, it will be set as a public device immediately. You can restrict the device to certain users using the “Security” button to the left of the share in the Shared Folders tab.
Media Server: The iConnect can serve media files to DLNA capable devices and streaming to network connected iTunes applications.
Picture Transfer: Attach a camera and it will automatically copy all files from that camera to attached media. (With or without deleting those files.)
Printer Support: attach your USB printer to make it capable of taking print jobs over a wired or wireless connection.

6. Advanced iConnect Features (1)
Torrent Download: will allow you to configure your device to be used as a BitTorrent client. You can offload BitTorrent activity from you PC, freeing it up for other tasks. From the Home tab, you can Manage Torrent Downloads for status on active torrents. You can enable and change port settings in Settings > Torrent Download
Remote Access: provides the external access to attached external storage. This access is determined by the Users associated with access to the iConnect device via the User. Remote Access settings are found under Settings > Remote Access
Wireless Setup: to set up the device as a wireless client, go to Settings > Network Settings > Network Services and click on the wrench next to the Wireless icon then enter Wireless settings in the inputs provided.

7. Advanced iConnect Features (2)
Copy Jobs: enables the device to perform unattended, schedule copies using a regular CIFS (SMB) share. Settings for Copy Jobs are found under Settings > Backup and Restore > Copy Jobs
Quick Transfer: The Quick Transfer button on the front of the device will trigger a preset Copy Job. This will copy to inserted USB device, or transfer files from one device to another. Edit the Quick Transfer action by going to Settings > Backup and Restore > Quick Transfer - or – Settings > Backup and Restore > Copy Jobs and editing or creating a Copy Job. Select “Run when Quick Transfer is pressed”

10. Troubleshooting the iConnect
Enabling the Wireless
You are required to configure the Iomega iConnect via wired connection first.
The Iomega iConnect is a client only device. It will not act as a wireless access point.
To simplify the process, enter all information necessary to connect to your access point while within range of the wireless device. You can test the connection live.
There is no power button
This device does not have a power button.
The button on the front will trigger the “Quick Transfer” process to whatever device is attached.
There is a recessed reset button in the back to reset or Factory Reset the device.
There are options in the Dashboard for Shutdown and Restart to allow for a proper power down.

11. Troubleshooting the iConnect
Device requires external storage to work correctly
The Iomega iConnect relies on external storage for all of its NAS related features namely: Updates, Shared Folders, Copy Jobs, and Quick Transfers.
Settings are saved on an internal flash drive that is not accessible for storage purposes beyond containing the system itself.
