Professional development programs for teachers and principles  FNBE finances PD for K-12, vocational and adult education sectors.  Number of paid PD days vary depending on contract.  Many teachers also participate on their own time.

 Focus areas are specified annually by FNBE.  Recently the focus has been on ICT enriched learning, special needs, contextual learning and entrepreneurial teaching skills.  Teachers are expected to keep up to date with subject matter and pedagogical knowledge and skills.  ICT skills are measured through a national framework.
