 Activity: Each table will be assigned a different effect out of:  Seiching  Fissure  Liquefaction  Fault Scarp  Present your effect to the class as a Cartoon on Strip Designer

 Write down what you think the effects of an earthquake would be for people:  Did you get:  Flood risks  Collapsed buildings  Loss of communication  Fire risk  Loss of income/work  Homelessness

 Prediction:  Read Page 30 of Textbook  Why is it important to forecast earthquakes?  Prevention:  Possible? Why or why not?  Protection:  Most important!!

 Have a plan  Know your emergency escape route  Identify hazards in your house  Identify safe zones  Have an emergency kit  Insurance  Natural hazard insurance protects us financially so that we can replace things damaged in earthquakes.
