Get To Know Your Air Conditioner by James Popplewell

Things You Can Do Raise your thermostat temperature during summer months. Change your filter. Keep grass, weeds, shrubs, and animals away from your outdoor unit. Click on to understand WHY! HELLO

By adjusting your cooling by 2-4 degrees warmer, you could see between $50 to $100 a month in electrical savings! Saving Money

Adjusting your thermostat while away from home: Takes many hours to cool your home. Cost you MORE money! Makes your system work harder!

Adjusting your thermostat to each others comfort: Is difficult Is frustrating Cost MONEY! May mean your system needs repairs.

We Are Here To Help

Where Is Your Filter? If you have a closet type indoor system chances are it is dirty! Usually located inside and behind the door panel. (see photos)see photos) Some filters may be along wall or ceiling. These are also called return ducts. What size is your air filter? ½ “, 1”, or up to 4”. Not every system is the same size. Dirty Filters Cost You MONEY and Your HEALTH

AIR FLOW Clean + Clear = Extra Savings! Outdoor condensers need air to be energy efficient Coil needs to be free of dirt, grass cuttings, and leaves Clearance of 3 feet from any shrubs

Are You Prepared to Buy a New Condenser or Compressor? Dirty or Bent/Smashed = High Energy Bills Compressor = $$$$ Fan Motor = $$$ Condenser = $$$$

Within this condenser is the compressor. It is the “heart” of the system. It pumps the refrigerant through the copper tubing. If your condenser coils are dirty, it works harder. Like anything else, work too hard too long gives out eventually. This one item is between $600-$2000 depending on size of unit.

If your outdoor unit looks like this you could soon loose your fan, capacitor, compressor or all the above. An easy solution is to spray up and down with a soft flowing jet like stream of water. Water will help, but it wont do the work completely. You may need to call an air conditioning service tech.

The picture here shows the names of the outdoor unit. Each part plays a major role. Dirty or smashed coil fans will cause you to loose money and the system to work harder and provide less cooling effects.
