Divided Loyalties 1 Kings 18 v 1-16 Elijah meets Obadiah

IKing 18:1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

I King 18:5-6 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. 6 So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

A Man With Divided Loyalties

I King 21:20 And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?   And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

Matt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

A Man Who Was Devoted To A Lifestyle

v9 What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me. v12 I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: 14 And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.

Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

A man Who Was Destitute Of Lowliness

I Kings 18:13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

I King 18:15 And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to day.
