2 Moses Refused some things in Life

3 He Refused Earthly Possessions
esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. Hebrews 11:26

4 He Refused Earthly Possessions
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:19-20

5 Moses Refused Earthly Power
By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, Hebrews 11:24

6 Moses Refused Earthly Power
17 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” 18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”

7 Moses Refused Earthly Power
20 And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.” 21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” 22 But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions Mark 10:17-22

8 Moses chose to accept unpleasant things in life.

9 Moses Chose a Life of Sacrifice
24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. Hebrews 11:24-26

10 Moses Chose a Life of Suffering
choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, Hebrews 11:25

11 Moses Chose a Life of Service
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them. 29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned. Hebrews 11:27-29

12 The reason behind the choices of Moses

13 Moses was guided by Faith
By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, Hebrews 11:24

14 Moses was guided by Faith
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

15 He sacrificed and endured, “seeing Him who is invisible”
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. Hebrews 11:27

16 He sacrificed and endured, “seeing Him who is invisible”
whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 1 Peter 1:8

17 Moses endured because of the reward
…and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

18 Lessons for Us Today

19 Moses made the right decisions in view of Eternity
22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ Acts 3:22-23

20 Moses made the right decisions in view of Eternity
1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Matthew 17:1-3

21 What must mankind do today?
1. Refuse the pleasures of sin. 2. Let God’s word guide our decisions.

22 Conclusion 1. All choices have consequences. a. Good or Bad 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. 14 For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

23 Conclusion 1. All choices have consequences. a. Good or Bad 2. Let us be wise enough to use God’s word to guide our decisions.
