Continuing business process enhancement and development of increased service orientation in research administration is a current focus. Research administration should provide mechanisms to assure accountability, training and periodic review of all participants and processes in research As a research university, UofL must encourage and nurture strong research, discovery, scholarship and creative activity in all of its academic disciplines including the creativity of the arts and humanities, basic scholarly research and translational and applied research. Current efforts are directed toward unification of the processes from concept to commercialization with stronger central management and focus. Expectations and reward structure for faculty, staff and students must be fair and well understood.
