Research Administration, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Interactions with Federal and state Industry Contracts (OIC) agencies and research foundations. Clinical Trials (OCRSS) Sponsored Programs Infrastructure development Grants development Pre-award administration Post-award administration The UofL research enterprise has grown dramatically over the last decade, with a corresponding growth in administrative support. Continuing business process enhancement and development of increased service orientation in research administration is a current focus. Research administration should provide mechanisms to assure accountability, training and periodic review of all participants and processes in research As a research university, UofL must encourage and nurture strong research, discovery, scholarship and creative activity in all of its academic disciplines including the creativity of the arts and humanities, basic scholarly research and translational and applied research. For many prospective students, UofL is a school of choice because of the opportunity to be engaged, as students, in the research and discovery experience. Direct scholarly communication

Current efforts are directed toward unification of the processes from concept to commercialization with stronger central management and focus. Expectations and reward structure for faculty, staff and students must be fair and well understood. The EVPR should be in a position of helping researchers engage in key university provided opportunities for: intellectual property, (patent, copyright) and licensing (OTT) interaction in private and governmental economic development opportunities new business development (Metacyte) business, investment and research partners (Nucleus) Direct scholarly communication
