In Shakespeare’s time, spelling was not formalized, so Shakespeare’s name was spelled: Shakspear Shagspere Shaxper Shaksper

Shakespeare probably went to school until he was between 13 and 15 years old. He would have learned Latin, English and math.

Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway in He was 18. She was 26.

Six months after they were married, William and Anne had a daughter named Susanna. In 1585 twins Judith and Hamnet were born. Hamnet died at age 11.

Shakespeare arrived in London around 1595 and worked as an actor. After he began writing plays, they were performed at The Globe Theater.

Wrote 37 plays, 154 sonnets, and started out as an actor He wrote comedies, histories, and tragedies R & J was written about 1595 (Tragedy)

Elizabethan Theaters The Globe was a standard Elizabethan Theater (built in 1599) Was built by Lord Chamberlain’s Acting Company (Shakespeare worked for them) Theater troupes were almost like gangs.
