3 William Shakespeare(1564 - 1616)
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, on the 23rd of April 1564.

4 His father, John Shakespeare, was a tradesman and an alderman.
His mother, Mary Arden, was the daughter of a Roman Catholic member of the landed gentry. William Shakespeare was baptised on the 26th of April 1564.

5 He was the 3rd of 8 children and the eldest son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden
He had 4 sisters, Joan, Margaret, Joan and Anne, and 3 brothers, Gilbert, Richard and Edmund. However his 2 elder sisters, Joan and Margaret, died before he was born.

6 On the 28th of November 1582, The Bishop of Worcester married William Shakespeare and Ann Hathaway of Stratford. William Shakespeare was 18 and Ann Hathaway was five years older than him. She was the daughter of a farmer

7 William and Ann had 3 children, 2 daughters, Susanna and Judith and a son, Hamnet.
Susanna was born on 26th May in 1583, and Hamnet and Judith, (who were twins) were born on 2nd February in 1585

8 he had to leave his family and business in Warwickshire, for shelter in London.
William Shakespeare then worked at the Globe Theatre as an actor, he appeared in many small parts. He then became a poet and then a play-writer. Finally he became joint proprietor of The Globe Theatre and he also had an interest in the Blackfriars Theatre.

9 William Shakespeare wrote about 38 different plays.

10 When he retired from writing in 1611, he returned to Stratford to live in a house.
On his 54th birthday, on 23rd April 1616, William Shakespeare died, after an evening of drinking with some of his theatre friends . He was buried in the Church of the Holy Trinity, the same as where he was baptised in 1564.

Good Frend for Jesus sake forebeare, to digg the dust encloased heare, Bleste be ye man yt spares thes stones, And curst be he yt moves my bones.
