Welcome to On Track Academy Financial Aid Night 2014

What is a FAFSA/WASFA? FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid WASFA stands for Washington Application for State Financial Aid Financial Need is determined by Cost of Attendance minus Expected Family Contribution COA – EFC = Financial Need

Types of student aid Grants and scholarships (from government, college and private sources) Federal loans (subsidized, unsubsidized and parent plus) Tax credits, deductions and Federal Work-Study (up to 20 hrs/week) Tuition waivers (discounted tuition, i.e. WUE, Veterans)

Important Dates to Remember: Christmas break-if you haven’t already applied to college you need to do it soon (CCS testing/application free through Deb) January 1 st -first day to submit FAFSA February 1 st –priority deadline to submit FAFSA for CBS April 17, 2015-fall quarter Financial Aid Terms and Conditions form due SCC/SFCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once taxes are completed be sure to update FAFSA and use the data retrieval tool, avoid an audit!

FAFSA Pin Number-needed to submit FAFSA Log onto a computer: havestu learn1 Go to the pin website: Click on the Apply Now link After reading info click on next arrow Enter your personal information Create a 4 number pin (make it easy to remember-birth year, date, etc.) – your Pin Number and Password can be the same Fill out pin handout so your pin number is recorded for future use
