Survey response rate 60% of UK HEIs responded to the survey 7% from % response rate England & NIWalesScotland 65%100%62%

Diploma Supplement (1) 60% of respondents issue the Diploma Supplement 32% from 2005 – 28% 90% of those HEIs not issuing DS plan to do so in the near future England & NIWalesScotland 57%58%62%

Diploma Supplement (2) 30% of respondents receive DS from other HEIs 82% claim its useful in evaluating students achievements and 78% have not encountered difficulties in interpreting information on the Diploma Supplement

Diploma Supplement (3) Future action: Encourage HEIs to issue DS to all graduating students – particularly for postgraduate and doctoral level qualifications DS a key component of HEAR

Credit (1) 87% use credit Need for further credit alignment with ECTS

Credit (2) Future action: Together with the Credit Issues Development Group, follow-up guidance on how UK credit systems relate to ECTS

Masters Significant diversity in 2 nd cycle provision - in some discipline up to 20% offer 2 years FTE duration increasingly irrelevant in diverse EHEA!

Integrated Masters 81% allocate a minimum of 60 ECTS credit to integrated Masters England & NIWalesScotland 78%100%89%

Recognition 70% indicated no recognition difficulties with 1 year FTE Masters 65% indicated no recognition difficulties with Integrated Masters

Conclusion (1) positive HEI engagement with the Bologna Process Bologna principles useful in providing framework against which national HE sectors can align Bologna to continue beyond 2010

Conclusion (2) Europe Unit wish for 2009: All UK HEIs to have a Bologna Coordinating Group!
