Writing Paragraphs and Essays 3 rd Grade Persuasive Writing

The Hamburger Model Would you eat a hamburger without a bun? What if it had no meat? What if the bun was on the inside and the meat and cheese were on the outside? NO! In the same way, you can’t write an essay or a paragraph without making sure you have all the right parts in the right order.

Introducing the Mega Burger ! Today we will learn about the 4 main parts of a juicy persuasive paragraph.

Top Bun: The introduction should grab your reader’s attention and tell what your paragraph is about. We begin our paragraph with an opinion.

The Meat: A mega hamburger includes three patties! Each meat patty stands for a reason to support your opinion.

Fixings: A good paragraph includes elaboration. Each reason should an include an elaboration that gives details to support each reason.

Bottom Bun: The conclusion should summarize what you said in the introduction and detail paragraphs.

A rural community, like Bridgewater, Virginia is the best place to live! In rural community the air is fresh and clean. There are fewer cars in my community to pollute the air like in the city. We don’t have subways and busses that add to the pollution. Secondly, there are many activities to do. If you like sports, Bridgewater is the place for you. The nine and ten year old All Star team from the Bridgewater Little League Team won the Virginia state championships the last 3 years in a row! Above all rural communities are great! Rural communities are located in the country side and are surrounded by farms and open land. There is lots of room for children to run and play. For these reasons I think a rural community is the best place to live!
