Inserting and deleting slide To insert a new slide to your presentation, from the Home tab click the New Slide icon existed in the Slides group. Changing PowerPoint views There are three modes for viewing the presentation slides: ◦Normal view: the view normally you will work on, it displays the slide thumbnail on the left of the screen –in the slide bar- and the selected slide displayed in the center of the screen. ◦Slide sorter view: in this view the slide thumbnails are displayed in the center of the PowerPoint window. This view allows you to easily sort and arrange slides. ◦Slide show view: once you finish your presentation you will need this view to show the presentation to the audience. In this view the slides will be displayed in a full screen. To switch between these views, use the set of view buttons existed on the right side of the status bar. Inserting slides with a particular slide layout The slide layout in PowerPoint is the arrangement of all the items that make up your slide, such as title, graphics or text boxes. For example a slide contains a title and text has a Title and Content layout and a slide contains a title, text, and image has a Title and Tow Content layout. When you insert a new slide you can specify the layout of the inserted slide, this will ease the building of the slide. To insert a slide with a specific layout, from the Home tab click the bottom of the New Slide icon, this will display a drop down list of the available layouts. To change the slide layout of an existing slide: ◦Display the required slide. ◦From the Home tab click the Layout icon existed in the Slides group. ◦This will display the list of the available layouts. Changing the slide background color To change the background color for a slide: ◦Display the required slide. ◦From the Design tab click the Background Styles icon existed in the Background group. ◦This will display the list of the available background styles. Inserting Illustrations within PowerPoint PowerPoint illustrations include pictures, clip art, shapes smart art and charts. To insert an illustration to your slide open the Insert tab and choose the required illustration from the Illustrations group. (try to insert picture, clip art and shapess). Rotating or flipping an illustration To apply a rotation to an object: ◦Select the required object. ◦From the Format tab click the Rotate icon existed in the Arrange group. ◦Choose the rotation angle. From the Format tab click the Rotate icon existed in the Arrange group. Choose the flipping type (horizontally or vertically).

Creating a footer To add footer to your slides from the Insert tab click the Header and Footer icon existed in the Text group. This will display the Header and Footer dialog box from which you can: Check the Date and time check box to add date and time to the slide footer. The date may be fixed or changed automatically. Check the Slide number check box to add a numbering to the slides Check the Footer check box to add a text to the footer. After setting the slide footer content click the Apply button to add the footer to the current slide or click the Apply to All button to add the footer to all of the slides. Running a slide show When you finish your presentation and you want to show it to your audience you have to view it using the Slide Show view. To start your slide show, open the Slide Show tab then from the Start Slide Show group you may: ◦Start the show from the beginning. ◦Start the show from the current slide. In the slide show view to advance to the next slide using the keyboard press the Down arrow key, the Enter key or the Spacebar key. To go back to the previous slide press the Up Arrow key. To go to a specific slide, right click on a slide while running the slide show. A popup menu is displayed. Click on the Go to Slide command. From the submenu, select the slide you wish to jump to. Slide show transition effects You can add animation effect that will be displayed as you move from slide to another slide in the Slide show; we call this effect Slide Transition. To add transition to slides: ◦Open the Animation tab. ◦From the Transitions to This Slide group, click one of the available transitions. ◦Once you clicked a transition, it will be applied to the current slide. Slide transition options: Adding sound to the transition: open the Transition Sound list and select one of the available sounds. Transition speed: you may set the transition speed to be fast slow or medium. Advance slide: the default advance slide is on mouse click you can also set it to be automatically after a period of time. Adding Custom Animation to an Object You can customize the animation added to an object by using Custom Animation. To add custom animation to an object: ◦Select the required object. ◦From the Animations tab click the Custom Animation icon existed in the Animations group. This will open the Custom Animation task pane. ◦Now click the Add Effects button and choose the required animation from the list. Notes: ◦Each custom animation will hold a number represent its order in the slide show. ◦To remove a custom animation from an object, select that object then click the Remove button from the Custom Animation task pane. Hiding slides You can create extra slides within your presentation that may contain additional information which will normally be hidden when you run the slide show, but which can be optionally displayed if needed. This may be useful if you are presenting a presentation and a member of the audience asks you for additional information. To hide a slide: ◦Select the required slide. ◦From the Slide Show tab click the Hide Slide icon existed in the Set up group. ◦If you look carefully at the slide number, you will see a diagonal line through it, as illustrated.
