April 23, 2015 Compensation Review Committee

Welcome & Introductions

This committee has been tasked with the job of establishing updated compensation scales and processes based on the instructional priorities, equity foundation, and budgetary factors established by the school system and by State-based schedules. Our main goal in structuring compensation plans and benefit programs is to recruit, retain, and reward employees who can support and provide an excellent education for our students and community. Committee’s Charge

Compensation Employee compensation can take many forms including: 1.Salary 2.Benefits 3.Working Conditions 4.Challenging, Rewarding, and Stimulating Work 5.Connection to Co-Workers 6.Opportunity to provide leadership and input in decision making.

Employees who feel that their compensation is adequate and equitable: 1.Perform at a higher standard, stay in a position longer and report greater overall job satisfaction. 2.Create a positive environment which attracts and retains employees who will contribute to the school system’s overall success. 3.Promote peer recruitment, especially in harder to fill positions. 4.State that professional development is more effective. 5.Have a higher attendance rate. Adequate and Equity Based Compensation

Principal Salary Scales State Salary Schedule is outdated and cumbersome; Changes in the Teacher Salary Schedule; Inequities exist between principals hired from inside, and those hired from outside the school system; and Inequities exist because over time some principals salaries were negotiated. Pay Scale Review Summary

Central Office Administrative Salary Scales Central Office positions have been negotiated creating inequities between central office supervisory staff. Inequities exist between central office administrators and school- based administrators. Change in the teacher salary scales impacts central office administrators.
