Important To What is important to a person includes only what people are “saying”: with their words with their behaviour When words and behaviour are in conflict, listen to the behaviour.

Important For Important for me to stay healthy and safe What is important for people, includes only those things that we need to be mindful of regarding issues of health or safety

Sorting out Important to and Important for What is important to me?  My family and friends  Being able to work  Autonomy  Creative thinking What’s important for me?  Not over working- time with my family and friends  Keeping fit  Making sure I eat foods that don’t upset me  Protecting my hip and back

What does the right support look like? Advance planning my social life and holidays Having dogs and a daughter who is willing to exercise with me Having a stock of gluten free foods at home and with me when I travel Travelling by train and access to the right type of car

An example of a one page profile

Exercise Spend 5 minutes thinking about what is important to you and for you Think about how you can use this information in your work Go away and think about a one page profile for yourself.
