More than 200 types of diseases spread by unsafe food across the globe Contaminated food causes 1.5 billion cases of diarrhea in children each year, resulting in more than 3 million premature deaths

Packaged food industry in India  The Indian food and grocery market is the world’s sixth largest & is projected to grow at the rate of 104%, touching US$ 482 billion by  Packaged food industry contributes to 32% of the country’s total food market  Approx. 60% of sugar in India is consumed by bulk food manufacturing sector including Bakery, local sweet shops & FMCG  Indian consumers on average purchased just 151 calories each day through packaged food and soft drinks in 2014, less than a fifth of the global average of 765 calories.  Nutrients per person per day (gm): Sugar India5 China16 US126 Source: Euromonitor
