Find the difference and write this on the arrow

LO: Discuss language associated with chance and likelihood of particular events

Weather Forecast Rain, likely. Strong winds, certain Temperature reaching 8 degrees, possible.

Weather Forecast Rain, likely. Strong winds, certain Temperature reaching 8 degrees, possible. What time of year is it?

Weather Forecast Sun, good chance. Light winds, possible. Temperature reaching 20 degrees, unlikely Chance of showers, even. What time of year is it?

LO: Use language associated with chance. Work in groups to put as many of these phrases into a sentence about the weather and say if the sentence relates to winter, summer autumn or spring. e.g. There is a fair chance of blue skies today (spring – as the weather is warmer)

low risk Can you use any of these three phrases in a sentence that relates to what you will be doing at lunchtime? good chance probable

What have we learned? : to use the vocabulary of PROBABILITY to describe events which have a good chance of happening and those which have a poor chance.

LO: to discuss the chance or likelihood of particular events

Remember ‘Chance’ words like: likely Probable Impossible good chance poor chance even chance definate.

7 Is the number on the next card likely to be greater than 7?

7 9

7 93

7 93 1

Poor chance LO: to discuss the chance or likelihood of particular events. Work in pairs to agree where the words should go BEFORE you record them.

Handling Data Day 5

LO: to record and write any whole number

12, 995 What is 5 more than this number?

12, 995 What is 3000 less than this number?

Solve a problem by representing and interpreting data in tables, charts, graphs and diagrams

Line Graph

When was the temperature highest?

When was it coldest?

When did it warm up the most?

What was the temperature at 10:15?

Task I would like you to solve a problem. You are to work in groups and investigate the distance travelled by a ball rolled down a ramp when the steepness of the ramp is changed. Each group will test a ball of a different size. You are first to collect data and then represent this on a line graph.

Predictions

What will each axis represent?

The steepness of the ramp Distance the ball rolls

What have we learned? To draw and interpret a line graph; To understand that intermediate points may or may not have meaning.
