Club Responsibilities We ask that there is a representative from the club there at all times especially at lunch time and end of day. It is the responsibility of the club to organize a back-up facility for wet weather. All clubs MUST have first aid facilities and equipment available. (Down GAA Coaching staff are all trained in first aid) All clubs must ensure that their code of conduct is upheld by their members.

Pre–Camp Activities – Club Co-ordinators role Hold a registration morning to enrol all the kids for the camp. Have parents complete necessary forms in advance of camp. Draw up attendance register on template provided. Check club facilities, ensure grass is cut etc. Arrange an indoor alternative for bad weather Notify parents of drop of / pick up times. Inform Down GAA of any issues / problems that may present themselves in ADVANCE of the camp starting.

Morning Activities Coaches will be present at camps at 9.30am. Clubs must have facilities open from this time. Changing rooms and toilet facilities (male and female) must be available throughout the entire day. Attendance register will be taken for those already registered. New camp members will be enrolled. Children will be grouped for activities to begin.

Lunch Time Activities Lunch will commence at 11.15am for nursery camp and 12noon for the Cul Camp. Lunch lasts 30 minutes. Lead Coaches will supervise lunch while other coaches eat along with the children. Nursery Camp kids depart at 12.30pm sharp. Lunch clean up will take place before afternoon activities commence. Children are not permitted to leave the club grounds at lunch time.

Afternoon Activities Activities will cease daily at 2.15pm All equipment will be gathered and stored in a secure location in the club over night. Down GAA Nursery Camps Nursery camps are an introduction to Gaelic Games, through the use of FUNdamental activities. The nursery camps are staffed by the Ulster GAA DENI coaches. Activites are all age specific and inclusive for boys and girls. Children will develop core athletic competencies such as Agility, Balance and Co-ordination along with basic GAA skills.

Provision of Cúl Camp Gear Gear will be delivered to camps between Wednesday and Friday Parents will not be allowed to swap / change sizes during the camp. Any kit changes required must be carried out through contacting the county office. Kids will receive: Jersey, Shorts, Socks, School Bag and Posters. (Nursery Camp will receive same)

Nursery Camps Cont…. Head Coaches will need assistance when enrolling children for the nursery camps. No child of Nursery camp age will be permitted to stay at camp beyond 12.30pm Parents / guardians must be informed of this in advance of the camp commencing.

Hurling / Camogie at the Cúl Camps Hurling and camogie will be available to every child at the Cúl Camp, at some stage throughout the week. Camp coaches will encourage all children to partake in all our games, however they cannot insist that a child participates against the child’s wish. Coaching of any games can only take place if numbers involved are viable. Down GAA cannot provide 1:1 coaching for children.

Hurling / Camogie Continued….. Clubs with Hurling / Camogie equipment are asked to make this gear available to camp coaches if numbers wishing to play Hurling / Camogie are large.

Complaints…. If a club feels that they are unhappy with ANY aspect of their camp, the club co-ordinator should contact me immediately. Please do not wait until the camp is over before you air grievances as it is only the children who suffer if there are problems.

In Conclusion… GAA Cúl Camps are the single biggest attended sporting camps in Co. Down. In ,742 Children attended Cúl Camps in Co. Down. It is our aim to reach 4,000 children in 2012, however for this to happen we need the help of our clubs.

LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
