Classifying Quadrilaterals

What is a quadrilateral?

What is a Quadrilateral? A polygon or a closed figure with 4 sides.

Draw an example of a Quadrilateral

6 Types of Quadrilaterals

Parallelograms A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel

Rhombus A parallelogram with four congruent sides

Rectangles A parallelogram with four right angles

Square A parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles

Kite A quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent sides congruent and no opposite sides congruent.

Trapezoid & Isosceles Trapezoid Quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides. An Isosceles Trapezoid is a trapezoid whose nonparallel opposite sides are congruent.
