All polygons are made up of line segments and angles. The line segments that create quadrilaterals will be parallel, perpendicular, OR intersecting.
The adjacent sides of this quadrilateral are perpendicular.

The opposite sides of this quadrilateral are parallel.

A square is a quadrilateral that has four equal sides and four right angles.
This square has four right angles and all four sides are congruent (the same length).

A rectangle is a quadrilateral that has two pairs of parallel sides that are equal and four right angles.
This rectangle has four right angles and two pairs of parallel sides that are congruent.
