The Legacy Exploration and Preservation Group Project was designed to promote psychological health for group members by engaging in self-reflection, exploring family history and traditions, rediscovering one’s roots, deepening one’s life purpose, and by expanding their capacity for caring. Specifically, these psychoeducation/support groups guide adults toward becoming the “keeper of meaning” by exploring, preserving and sharing their family legacy with future generations.

Small intimate groups of adults; targeting veterans, adults affiliated with active military or veterans and elders Two facilitators per group (at least 1 licensed mental health professional) Group length is 12 hrs

Developed by the Center for New American Security in 2012 The Model emphasizes prevention and integrative holistic approach that continues beyond the absence of psychological distress LEPG curriculum incorporates three of the four domains Purpose Health Social/Personal Relationships

The specific wellness constructs being assessed in this project are based on the Ryff Scales of Psychological Well-Being (Ryff, 2004). These constructs include: autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life, self-acceptance.

Provide participants with an opportunity to enhance health and well-being and connectedness in families, communities, and with future generations.
