A few examples have been selected from the guidelines in each of these levels but you are free to comment on any of the guidelines in the document itself. We can add domains if needed!! This is a discussion – and all responses to questions/comments are welcome!

Domain 2: Recovery Oriented Care is Timely and Responsive Timely, uncomplicated access to care Engagement: connecting with the person; not the diagnosis Timeliness of services Responsive to wants needs, preferences; including culturally responsive services Provides continuity: It’s on-going

The Elements of Timely, Responsive Services

Agency/system level: Examples Prevention efforts to help communities develop resources for healthy living Early intervention with youth and young adults with early warning signs Staff placed in strategic locations for outreach; swift access to services Zero reject policies Service hours and location based on individual needs and preferences Continual efforts to engage those reluctant to enter recovery Outcome tracking includes quality of life domains: housing, work, relationships

Agency/System level: continued New technologies used to improve recovery outcomes Enhanced access to housing, employment and other recovery supports Stigma-busting community education! Funding for pre- service, engagement activities

Practitioner/person in recovery Ultimately the central concern of engagement is: – How do we nest the recovery process within this person’s natural environment? – not how do we get this person into treatment…..

Practitioner/person in recovery Progress through a services continuum is not required Continuity means shifting services not programs Recognize that, for many, an ongoing supportive relationship is the most essential aspect of healing/recovery

Domain 2 Discussion Questions Did the text of this domain define timely and responsive? What specific changes would you suggest to the text? Any other comments?
