Spanish 1-2 Ms. Kraft

Bienvenidos! My goal is to teach your student to understand, speak, read and write in Spanish over the course of the semester. We will accomplish this through a variety of activities, including: oral presentations, group projects and individual practice. The curriculum covers a variety of subjects, such as sports, food, hobbies, activities, family, clothes and cultural study.

Your Spanish 1 student will be able to: Introduce themselves and inquire about others Discuss their likes and dislikes Describe themselves and their family members Tell time and weather conditions Conjugate verbs in the present tense And more…

Your Spanish 2 student will be able to: Describe themselves and others Discuss topics such as school, clothing sports, and holidays Describe their childhood and other past events Conjugate verbs in the preterite and imperfect tense And more…

World Language Standards Course Standards The student will communicate in a language other than English. The student will gain knowledge and understanding of different cultures. The student will connect with other disciplines and acquire information. The student will develop insight into the nature of language and culture. The student will participate in multilingual communities at home and around the world. For clarification of the standards please visit:

Homework and Absences Homework Complete homework will be checked off daily. I only accept late work for chapter vocabulary and projects. Absences Make-up work will only be accepted for excused absences (Please see the student handbook for the definition of an excused absence). Make up exams will only be offered for excused absences. Students must arrange to make up the exam during lunch or after school. Students have as many days as they were absent to make up the exam—no make-up exams will be accepted after that point.

Grading Assignments (agendas, class work, etc.) 40% Tests 30% Quizzes 20% Projects (group, individual, presentations, etc.) 10% Total 100%

Agendas/Stamp Sheets Students copy down agendas every day (standards, objectives, warm-up, class work, and homework) Students receive stamps for completed assignments Every Friday we turn in the agenda/stamp sheet

How is my student doing? I post grades on School Loop as quickly as possible. School Loop is usually updated every day. You can loopmail or with any questions or concerns: – – Ext. 4323

Moving on to Spanish 2,3,4 Spanish 2, 3, 4 Recommendation Students must receive a “C” or better at the end of the term to be recommended for the next level. If students receive a D or an F they must repeat the term/class. I highly recommend students earn a B or better!

Gracias! Thank you for attending Back-to-School-Night. Again, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.
