Gangster rap is a genre of hip-hop that reflects the violent lifestyles of inner-city youth. The genre was pioneered around 1983 by Ice T with songs like "Cold Winter Madness" and "Body Rock/Killers." Gangster rap was popularized by illustrious rap groups like NWA and Boogie Down Productions in the late 80s. Elements & Style: Gangster rap revolves around aggressive lyrics and trunk-heavy beats. Despite its huge acceptance in the early 90s, gangster rap has been condemned for its violent themes. Rappers often defend themselves by saying that they're only depicting actual inner-city struggles, not promoting it.

Gangster rap gained commercial momentum after the release of Notorious B.I.G's Ready To Die. B.I.G. and his producer, Puff Daddy, meshed gritty narratives with polished pop beats entirely designed with clubs and pop charts in mind. Since then, the same blueprint has been reproduced over and over by today's rap artists.

The hip hop originated in the block parties of the 1970 in the city ofNew York, specifically in the Bronx borough. In 1930 more than onesixth of Harlem residents were from the West Indies, being observed in the block parties of the 1970 is a direct relationshipwith the Jamaican sound system culture. It was great festivals, originally in the street, mounted by the owners of expensive and powerful sound systems that used to share with the community.Usual the competition between organizers of sound systems, and itoften materialized in the lyrics spoken or sung by the deejaytoasting practicing. Rap music emerged from block parties once the DJs, motivated by competition, managed to isolate the percussion breaks. The MCs were talking, the audience cheeredand sang on the audience's favorite breaks. "Rapper's Delight" by Sugarhill Gang is the first song that was recorded and published by a crew of hip hop, and therefore is considered the first hard real gender, but "King Tim III", the group ofR & B Fatback Band and "Groovy Ghost Show" by Casperconsidered earlier, as they also include raps. Lil Rodney Cee, of Funky Four Plus One More and Double Trouble, cites Cowboy, of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, "the firstMC I met... He was the first MC to talk about a DJ".

The hip-hop emerged in late 1960, when street parties or "block parties" became common in the city of New York, especially in theBronx, due to poor access for people who were clubs and discosaffluent areas that were in the Big Apple. The street parties were accompanied by funk and soul, until the first [b] DJs began isolating the percussion and spread, as the song became more danceable. This technique was common in Jamaica, which led to the Jamaicanimmigrant community participate in these celebrations. This adaptation of beats later was accompanied by a new techniquecalled cool rapping (singing technique based on rhythm andimprovisation). A prominent figure, regarded by many as the father of hip hop, DJKool Herc is, which resulted, along with other DJ's like GrandmasterFlash, two of the elements of hip hop born and develop. First, itcreated the figure of "Master of Ceremonies" (abbreviated MC), who was presenting the DJ. Slowly, the figure of the MC wasbecoming more important, as recited on the beats (hip-hoprhythms) with increasingly clever texts. At the same time, began to dance, reserving the best dance move for when the song stoppedmomentarily (ie, when it was a "break"). This phenomenonoriginated the term B-boy (break-boy), it would be "the guy whouses the break", and thus was born the breakdance movement.

As gangsta rap music continues to gain in popularity more and more people are choosing to dress in a similar manner to the rappers they wish to emulate. Some people might contend that dressing gangsta is more about attitude than adhering to a specific style but there are certain rules that are hardwired into the trend. Above all it is about showing that you have that which is most important to gangsta rappers everywhere: Money. Even though you might think this style would be anti conformity the main tenet of it is to use brand name clothing. Nothing says you have money to burn like draping yourself in expensive brand names. For example, even though Tommy Hilfiger was a known racist many gangstas still loved his clothing years ago when it was in style simply because the brand was so expensive to purchase.

Another rule is to stick with only current brand names. Hilfiger went out of style along with so many names simply because they had been popular for too long. What was popular three years ago is sure to be worthless now. Sports jerseys always seem to be a good fit. This is the one article of clothing that does age like fine wine in the gangsta world. "Throwback" jerseys which represent players from lost eras or current ones placed on a retro jersey are very popular. Don't forget the shoes. Shoes are an absolute essential if you want to adhere to this style. They better either be or look very expensive, be a brand name, and be perfectly clean. I have known people who used this style whose lives were falling apart at the seams but still managed to polish and clean their shoes like religion! The final aspect of this style is what is known as "bling". It seems logical to think that such a masculine style might desire to avoid the equivalent of male jewelry but one must remember that above all dressing gangsta is about showing off financial means. Gold chains dangling from the neck, diamond studded earrings and platinum bracelets are all high priorities, though of course these items are only accessible by gangstas who actually have money and denied to those who simply want to give off the appearance of riches. A quick note on sagging (letting your pants hang below your waist): it is falling out of grace. This depends heavily on location but for the most part this trend started dying out five years ago. It is not to the point where people will mock it and it does still fit in with a certain subset of the fashion but for the most part it is no longer viewed as anywhere near essential.

The lyrics of this genre, there are always songs with strong words, which leads to offend society by the government, police or gangs. In order to bring a good message to society. If you are based on everyday life with these people, who always in gangs, and come to an end intolerance and leads to people following this type of music that are expressed in rhymes and music.
