Image An image is a word or group of words that refers to anything that can be perceived through your five senses. Example: sight, hearing, touch, taste, or smell

Imagery A noun used to refer to a set of related images in a poem or work of literature or the total images in that wok of literature.

Simile A type of comparison that uses words such as like, as resembles, or than. Similes are easy to spot Examples: “The team’s center looked like a skyscraper.” “My love is like a red , red, rose.” “We were as quiet as frightened mice.”

Metaphors A metaphor is a type of comparison with using like, as, or than. A metaphor is a direct comparison Instead of say one this is like another, a metaphor will say that one this is or was another. Example: “My brother is a prince.” “Razorback stadium was a slaughterhouse.”

Personification Personification is a type of figurative language in which non-human things are given human characteristics or qualities. Example: “The flowers dance in the wind.” “The sun smiled down upon us.” “An angry wind slashed its way across the island.”

Hyperbole A hyperbole is a form of figurative language which uses intentional exaggeration or overstating often for dramatic or humorous effect. Example: “I feel a flood of tears coming on.” “I needed a pickup truck to carry all of my homework.”
