Conversation One.

Let’s talk. We can ask “What’s your favourite _____?”, and get the answer “My favourite _______ is _______”. E.g. What’s your favourite book?” My favourite book is Harry Potter.” Or we can ask “What kind of _____ do you like” E.g. “What kind of books do you like?” “I really like fantasy books.”

Genre Words like fantasy, comic, mystery, rock, pop, jazz, comedies, soap operas, action and horror are called genres. A genre is a style of book, movie, music, etc. When we ask “What kind of book do you like?”, it is the same as “What is your favourite book genre?”

…but… When we answer the question: Do you like music? You can answer like this: Yes I do. Yes, I really like rock music.

So how do I get an ?? If you want to get an A+, you need to say what you don’t like too. So…”Do you like music?” “I really like rock, but I don’t like jazz.”

What kind of …? Do you like movies? What kind of movies do you like? Yes, I do. I really like comedies. I really like comedies, but I don’t like action movies.
