Thomas Jefferson ( )  American colonist/Patriot.  Born in Virginia in April.  Wrote the Declaration of Independence  Third President of the United States of America  He was the first Secretary of State and served under George Washington. Click here to return to Main Menu

John Adams ( )  American Colonist/Patriot.  Born in Massachusetts in October.  First Vice President under George Washington.  Second President of the United States of America.  The first president to reside in the White House. Click here to return to Main Menu

John Hancock ( )  American Colonist/Patriot.  Born in Massachusetts in January.  President of the Second Continental Congress.  Remembered for his large signature on the Declaration of Independence. Click here to return to Main Menu

Charles Cornwallis ( )  British General.  Born in Grosvenor Square, England in December.  Became a Member of Parliament in  Elevated to the House of Lords in  One of the five people to vote against the Stamp Act. Click here to return to Main Menu

John Burgoyne ( )  British General.  Born in Bedfordshire, England  Designed an invasion scheme for the war.  Appointed to lead 6,200 men South from Canada to end the rebellion in New England but movement was to slow.  Fought 2 battles at once and surrendered in October Click here to return to Main Menu

Benedict Arnold ( )  Traitor.  Born in Connecticut in January.  First a general in the Continental Army and gathered information then switched to the British Army.  Gave collected information on the colonists to the British. Click here to return to Main Menu

William Howe ( )  British General. Became Commander-in-Chief of the British forces during the American Revolutionary War.  Born in England in August.  His mother was King George I’s half-sister. Click here to return to Main Menu
