Presentation transcript:

 This is Hanks job on his ship. The Airedale is the second most important job on the flight deck besides pilot. The Airedale sends and receives the planes off the flight deck.

 Hank absolutely loves baseball. When ever he can all he does is talk about baseball and the basics of baseball. Hank played in the Philadelphia Athletics' farm baseball league.

 Before Hank left for war he promised his brother Theo he would play catch as much as he can.

 This is Hanks most favorite plane. Hank enjoys being around them and feels a sense of comfort. When Hank sees them all return he celebrates with pilots.

 Hank thinks this is all extreme. The battles, the hatred everything. Hank believes this should not be happening.

 Hank and his younger brother Theo are frightened of there younger sister Susie. When Susie found out they joined the war she was devastated and yelled to the point she shocked Hank and Theo and made them freeze.

 This is the enemy to Theo, Hanks younger brother. Theo enlisted into the Army Air Corps and was sent to fight the Germans. Theo heard Germans hate baseball so he intends to do what he can to fight them off.

 Hank is the main character in Dead in the water. Hank voluntarily went into war as a member of the USS Yorktown.

 One of Hanks good friends on the ship is Illegal in most of the country due to segregation.

 This is the enemy Hank is fighting in the Pacific Ocean. The Japanese are a strong and noble enemy to Hank. Hank refers to it as the hardest baseball game of his life.

 Before Hank left he and Theo made a promise to kill as many Japanese and Germans as they can for Susie.

 The USS Lexington is the sister ship of his mother ship. Hank preferably wants to be on the Lexington because it seems more peaceful.

 Mac is Hanks nickname on the ship. Since nobody knew each other they would call each other names short for their last names.

 This is the branch of military Hank enlisted in. Hank gets a lot of recognition for being a sailor. Hank says how the U.S navy is unstoppable.

This is what Hank calls the ship. Since the ship has basically everything a small town has he calls it a vacation away from home.

 Pappas is Hanks first and best friend on the ship. Since Pappas is a pilot he considers Pappas and himself a duo like shortstop and second base.

 Hank questions why this is even happening. Segregation to blacks and Japanese Americans. Hank thinks it’s unfair.

 This is what the police threatened to do to Bradford because Bradford was black and not allowed on the beach in Hawaii.

 Susie is Hank and Theo’s little sister whom seems to torment them. Susie can tend to be a little scary sometimes.

 Theo is Hanks younger brother. He enlisted into the Army Air Corps and was sent to fight the Germans. Theo always played catch with Hank and promised Hank to always play catch.

 Hank believes he and his ship and fleet are unstoppable beasts that can take anything down.

 Valentine is Hanks “Eye in the sky”. Valentine always gives Hank a report on what happened during raids or attacks.

 This is what Hank has to wear when he is not aboard a ship so it can signify he is a sailor fighting the war.

 This is what Hank attempts to do in his spare time when not sending planes off into the sky.

 The USS Yorktown is Hanks mother ship and also the mother ship/ mother aircraft carrier of the fleet.

 When Hank attempts to relax he tends to look off into the amazing ocean and sun set. Hank is amazed on how such a big ship in small water can turn to a little ship in big water.
