Mission Statement Baltimore City Cancer Program (BCCP) aims to eliminate cancer deaths through early detection, diagnosis, and treatment. We promote healthier lifestyles through education, focused on cancer risks and prevention. We offer breast, cervical, and oral cancer screening services targeted to uninsured or under-insured minority communities in Baltimore City and link those requiring follow-up to diagnosis and treatment services.

Vision Statement To be a recognized leader in the delivery of a comprehensive screening, diagnosis and treatment program for targeted diseases in Baltimore City.

Goals Reduce the burden of cancer in Baltimore City by decreasing cancer incidence through education and prevention initiatives. Reduce Baltimore City’s cancer morbidity rate for targeted cancers. Address cancer disparities for targeted cancers among minorities. Develop a medical delivery system (primary and specialty care) for uninsured population. Expand existing services and leverage additional resources through partnerships and collaborations.

Projecting incidence rates of cancer difficult. Don’t underestimate cost of diagnosis and treatment. Program reach limited by funding. To ensure sustainable medical delivery system, can not run out of money. Must adjust program accordingly. Outreach “Think non-traditional.” “Don’t take no for an answer.” Be Prepared, “Quarterly Targets.” Lessons Learned
