4 (NCCCP) is designed to create a community-based cancer center network to support basic, clinical and population-based research initiatives, addressing the full cancer care continuum —from prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship through end-of-life care.

Community Research Enterprise National Outreach Network Build and Sustain a Network for Education, Outreach, and Research Dissemination in At-Risk and Underrepresented Communities

6 Working through CHEs located at NCI-supported institutions, NON will:
Goal Enable access to current cancer information to inform decision-making about prevention behaviors, screening treatment options and participation in research, including clinical trials and biospecimen collection among underrepresented and at-risk communities Working through CHEs located at NCI-supported institutions, NON will: Link NCI’s cancer education, dissemination and outreach with its community-based research Expand culturally sensitive community outreach and dissemination capacity Enhance inclusion of underrepresented groups in cancer research

11 Strength of CHE Training
Purpose: Provides the educational content, tools and knowledge of NCI programs and resources necessary for CHEs to effectively address local cancer problem within a research environment and their local community. Core Competencies Community Engagement & Partnering Development Cancer 101 Basics of Cancer Screening Clinical Trials Personalized Medicine and BioBanking Strength of CHE Training Shared set of competencies tailored to specific local context and culture

12 Scope of CHE Activities
Support one full-time CHE Conduct an assessment of a national and local resources and networks Participate in training (national and local) Develop a long-term education/outreach plan to optimally address a local CHE Core Activities 1-3 Initiation of one education/outreach intervention addressing a local cancer problem Optional Activity 4 Conduct an assessment of national and local resources and networks Develop a long-term education/outreach plan to optimally address a local cancer health disparity via a CHE Participate in CHE training (national and local) Initiation of one education/outreach intervention addressing a local cancer problem
