4 Mission of HEAL To reduce the number of people with diseases that have a direct correlation to the obesity epidemic, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, kidney disease, blindness, and asthma To reduce the number of people with diseases that have a direct correlation to the obesity epidemic, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, kidney disease, blindness, and asthma The initiative will educate the community to gain greater control over these diseases, by increasing access to and availability of healthier foods, teaching moderation and control over consumption, and increasing physical fitness in the daily routines of Harlem’s residents.
