3rd Brainstorm session BH60A1101 Environmental Technology Project Work: Sustainable Innovation 5 ECTS cr Spring 2012

Content of the third brainstorm session 1.Feedback from the group meetings 2.Tools to manage the group 3.Project work with the team

Feedback of meeting with the assistant −Groups at very different level −Trouble of communicating (separate will, separate struggles, no common responsibility)  Tools −Special Issues −Product innovation vrs system innovation −How your chosen technology/approach affect the community (=system) −Monetary systems/added value concept −Subsidies −Value (such as jobs, education, goods) should be created at every step!! Scenarios? (I want to achieve point P. How do I get there. Instead of trying to reach P from point A, doing the opposite of starting from P: Different scenarios how you get there). −Location −Using other projects as reference (reference does not mean copying the project directly). −MORE?

Remember Any technology/ solution that will be introduced to a developing country setting should fill the following criteria: SMART Simple Maintenance friendly Adaptable Reliable Timely to markets Also remember the three aspects of sustainability:

Tools for the group management -Suggestion: memos of meetings -Use internet tools such as -Skype -Doodle for setting up meetings -Facebook -Dropbox -In the beginning meet every week once (even if everyone would not be there) -Choose a group leader -In charge of organizing meetings! (maybe also keeps memos, and writes how the work is going on) -Work can be compensated -Divide the work/choose leaders of different themes (technical aspects, auxiliary aspects, ICT tools)

IMPORTANT −Meet weekly, or every forthnight −Continuity −Divide responsibilities −Group leader? EVERY SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE BASED ON PRODUCT CHAIN Production, logistics, marketing, sales..

Value/production chain Reference: Safe Water for All, Harnessing private sector to Reach the Underserved. IFC (International Finance Corporation).
