The Christian and the Old Testament
Deuteronomy 4:13 - “So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments; & He wrote them on two tablets of stone.”
Deuteronomy 9:9 - “When I went up to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord had made with you, then I remained on the mountain forty days & nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.”
Exodus 34: Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
2 Chronicles 6:11 – “There I have set the ark in which is the covenant of the Lord, which He made with the sons of Israel.”
It faded away (2 Cor 3:7-18) It passed away (Rom 7:1-4) It vanished away (Heb 8:7-13) It’s purpose was fulfilled (Matt 5:17-18; , 27-28, 31-32, 33-34, 38-39, 43-44; 6:1-6)
1 Corinthians 5:7-8 - Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Pass- over also has been sacrificed. Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice & wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity & truth.
2 Corinthians 1:12 - For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness & godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, & especially toward you.
Ephesians 6:24 - Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.
It faded away (2 Cor 3:7-18) It passed away (Rom 7:1-4) It vanished away (Heb 8:7-13) It’s purpose was fulfilled (Matt 5:17-18; , 27-28, 31-32, 33-34, 38-39, 43-44; 6:1-6) It’s power was nailed up (Col 2:13-14).
Romans 15:4 - For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
1 Corinthians 10:11 - Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
2 Timothy 3:15 – And that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
