True -or- False Campus employment requires federal work-study (FWS).  False: Work-Study is NOT required unless the employer makes it a requirement of the job. Less than ½ of all undergraduate who work on-campus do not have FWS. Working while in college is detrimental to student academic success.  False: Studies show that campus employment actually aids in retention by helping students quickly develop a connection; it improves time-management skills & provides learning opportunities not afforded in the classroom setting. Student earnings are limited.  False: There is no limit to the amount of money a student can earn. Students w/FWS cannot exceed their award but departments can, and typically do, continue employment on a non-FWS basis. Students can only have one job.  False: The average undergraduate has multiple jobs (concurrent employment). These positions can be FWS, Non-FWS, or a mix of both. However, the ‘combined’ hourly limit is 20/hours per week. International students can only work on the Homewood campus.  False: Students can work for any department within the JHU community. Like an umbrella, the University is the employer and each job falls under its domain. The student with multiple jobs receive only one paycheck & we serve as their HR office regardless of where the student works within the University.
