Introduction of Staff Nick Kroon (Varsity) Craig Theis (JV) Cody Bobolz (C)

What We Have Done to Improve Individual workouts Lifting Summer Camps Point System and Husker game last week

This Season’s Expectations Conduct handout…attendance…lettering criteria…etc Building program (.500 season) Speed and athleticism Community Involvement Huge focus on improving and competing down the stretch of the season. 15 losses by average of 21 pts in ‘08-’09.

X’s & O’s Run, Run, Run…flex and freelance Change defenses often Any X’s and O’s questions

What Your Son and I Need From You! Before the game (answer these yourselves, then have your son answer these) – Why do I want them to play? – What are my goals for him? – What will a successful season look like? – What is their role going to be? – What do I hope they gain from the experience? – Compare your lists…drop yours and accept theirs. – Show confidence and trust in them and release them to the game

During the Game Hardest time for parents…best time for kids Model appropriate behavior Focus on the team One-instructional voice – You can be one of 4 things at a game Spectator Competitor Official Coach

After the Game Hardest time for athletes Grandpa and Grandma Get to a point where they approach you about the game and ask for pointers Be positive and upbeat and put a strong focus on the team and our overall performance

Appropriate to Talk to Coach When: Concerned about your child’s physical or mental treatment You are looking for ways to help your son improve Concerned about your child’s behavior in school, games, etc.

Inappropriate to Talk to Coach About: Coaching decision Your son’s playing time Team strategy Other team members Encourage your son to take responsibility to talk to me. This will help them deal with problems as they come and serve a useful tool for their lives beyond bball and school.

Thank You! A successful season and program is not feasible without your support, love, and understanding. I hope this is a great experience for your son, and serves as a time in his life that he builds great relationships with his teammates and parents. I hope there are memories made for everybody involved that last a life time…See you on the 3 rd !
