ENPI-CBC Med Program oT-NET submitted in the frame of the call for proposals of the first call for proposals for standard projects of the Mediterranean Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme oCross-Border Cooperation programme oPart of European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) of the European Union, adopted by the European Commission in 2008 oThe Autonomous Region of Sardinia plays the role of joint Managing Authority of ENPI-CBC Med programme

oAnswers to the priority 1 - Measure 3 of the program dedicated to the promotion of socio-economic local development in the Mediterranean Basin oLeader Tuscany Region o10 partners : Regions of Zgharta, Tyre, Jezzine, Beirut Southern Suburbs in Lebanon, Regions of Aqaba and Madaba in Jordan, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region in France, Oxfam and ARCI NGO in Italy oDuration: 36 months oTotal budget: ,40€ o2 levels of intervention :  Establishment of a network able to work with common and shared methodologies on same specific issues  Application of this methodology while implementing some identified socio-economic territorial projects in priority sectors T-NET PROJECT Territorial networking for capacity building and local development: a cross border experience linking Lebanon, Jordan, France, Italy

General objective Develop tourism sector in the region as a sustainable lever for local economy and intercultural knowledge TYRE TERRITORIAL PROJECT Promotion of cultural and historical heritage in Tyre region

THE CHOICE OF TOURISM SECTOR oSector of tourism identified as a priority by the elected members of the Union during the strategic planning approach realised in cooperation with Provence-Alps- Côte d’Azur region oThe region has a rich historical and cultural heritage oThe region has a high potential to develop internal tourism due to seasonal immigration oThe image of South Lebanon Region suffers depreciation oLack of infrastructure for information and promotion of the territory oLack of knowledge about the diversity of our culture and history

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES o Encourage private economic initiatives as a source of income for local population o Reinforce and valorise the regional identity, traditional products and know-how o Expose importance of heritage for local residents, especially among youth o Provide ideas and tools for the Union of municipalities to be more actively involve in touristic sector o Development of relations with neighbours at regional, national and Mediterranean level

oDiagnosis study about historical and cultural sites oSmall scale infrastructure works oRealization of information and promotional material: maps, brochures, leaflets, panels, billboards, educational kits… oVisibility and educational events with groups of youth in the villages oTraining of tourist guides PILOT TERRITORIAL ACTIVITIES Design and implementation of a touristic itinerary among cultural and historical sites of Tyre region:

EXPECTED RESULTS o Constitution of a tourism steering committee gathering public and private bodies of Tyre area, specially tourism professionals o Increase of visits of the touristic sites (both local and foreign tourists) o Creation of new job opportunities o Inclusion of Tyre area into touristic package - tours o Offer visibility to the villages initiatives and events, and encourage cooperation among villages o Raise awareness of local heritage among local population, specially youth

FORESHADOWING OF A TOURISM OFFICE o Activity undertaken with the technical and institutional support of Provence, Alps, Côte d’Azur Region and in cooperation of Jezzine Union of municipalities o General objective Plan out the creation of a sustainable multi-actor platform or entity able to strengthen public decision makers and private entities capacities to design, implement and promote their sustainable tourism and marketing strategies o Activities  Exchange and transfer of experiences and practices  Technical and institutional support  Trainings  Studies
