España-Spain The Vicente Orquín Spanish Exchange program

The foundation and history of our exchange Who is Vicente Orquín? When did we begin this program? Why do we have this program?

What is an exchange? The opportunity to utilize your Spanish and improve it. Experience being immersed in language and culture. Receiving/hosting a student from Valencia, Spain for approximately 2 weeks. Showing what life is like for you and your family. (September) Visiting and living with your Spanish family in Spain. (End of March)

What do former participants say about the exchange? Highlights and video Students can answer questions at the end of the meeting.

Dates to keep in mind Hosting: mid Sept-end of Sept Traveling: March 10-23

What would your responsibilities be? Hosting: during the beginning of the school year, planning what to do after school and on the weekends, keeping up with school work, maintain good grades, etc Traveling: getting work from teachers and completing it, keeping an open mind while traveling, being flexible, practicing your Spanish, etc

What is the cost? The total cost will be roughly $3,500-$4,000. (The airport tax can change) There is an activities fee due at the end of March that will be $325-$350 Culture Quest requires participants to pay in 3 installments: – $400 deposit before June 30 – $350 due Sept 15 – The remainder of payment 90 days prior to trip

If you are interested….. Go to Ms Wiegner’s website and print the application form. Complete the application thoroughly. Hand in the application by Wednesday March 18 th 2:55pm. (to Ms Nemec or Ms Wiegner) The “activities” fee will be due soon after that as well.

What’s next? We will collect applications until March 18 th and then send out information about our next meeting (end of April most likely). Once we have collected the activities fee, we will connect you with Culture Quest (agency that handles the traveling and tours in Madrid/Barcelona) for payment to go directly to them. We hope to match students sometime in May so that we can give you their information in June. Over the summer you can begin talking to your exchange student!

¡Buenas noches!
