Animating Occultation Data Ted Blank Hampton, NH
Select an occultation, extract timings from Occult and subset to one geographic area.
Grab a Google Map of the Geographic area covered by the selected occultation data.
Import the map into Adobe After Effects as the background
Add a blue dot at each observers location. (This requires translating latitude and longitude into X and Y coordinates on the After Effects screen.)
Adjust the timeline of the animation to match the actual time period of the occultation. Adjust the Opacity property of each blue dot positive so it disappears at the actual D time and reappears at the actual R time. Blue dots which are negatives stay at 100% opacity. D time R time Opacity=100% Opacity=0%
Thats it! You can manually add the asteroid shadow and animate it to come close to the actual path if you wish
