Discussion Questions Have you ever felt called by God? Are you surprised to learn that missionaries are sent only upon the request of Global Ministries international partners? How is missionary defined in the DVD segment? What were some of the missionaries surprises? How did each one learn from their surprises? What does call mean?

Discussion Questions What characteristics do you think are needed for being a missionary? What are some of your talents and gifts that you could share with international partners? How did the missionaries views of giving and receiving change during their time of service? If you were to serve as a missionary. What do you think you would receive from the people you served? What do you think about having missionaries come from our partner churches around the world to serve in the united States?

Acts 1: 6-11 Bible Study Bible Study After his resurrection, Jesus told his disciples that their mission would begin in Jerusalem and then move outward toward Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. This model from the book of Acts can be helpful as your congregation evaluates its involvement in mission.

Acts 1: 6-11 AC 1:6 So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" AC 1:7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." AC 1:9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. AC 1:10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

How do you understand your responsibility to be a Spirit-empowered witness for God in the world? How are you as an individual, a witness? How are you collectively, as a congregation, witnesses? If you were to use the geography of Acts 1:8 as an image of what your congregations mission involvement could look like, how would you evaluate your mission in Jerusalem (immediate community)? Bible Questions

In Judea and Samaria (state and country)? To the ends of the earth (global involvement)? What new mission ideas could your Church pursue in these three areas? Bible Questions

Let Us pray together! God send us forth in Jesus name as a Global Mission Church to serve you in this world you love so dearly. Amen
