Step One: Jesus Descended into Hell When? –After his death and becoming alive again

Colossians 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Jesus Descended into Hell When? –After his death and becoming alive again Why? –To proclaim to the devil He had won the victory

Jesus Rose from the Dead Matthew 28:1-8 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: `He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

Romans 1:4 1 Corinthians 15:17 Who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

Jesus Rose from the Dead This assures us that: 1He is God and what He says is true 2 He really has defeated sin and death

John 14:19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.

Jesus Rose from the Dead This assures us that: 1He is God and what He says is true 2He really has defeated sin and death 3 He will raise me and all the dead

Acts 1:1-11 (Acts 1:1-11) In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2) until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3) After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4) On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5) For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." 6) So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7) He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 9) After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10) They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11) "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Jesus Ascended into Heaven 1To assure us of a prepared heavenly home

Acts 1:9-11 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18) Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Jesus Ascended into Heaven 1To assure us of a prepared heavenly home 2To assure us he will come back the same way he went so we can live with him forever

Jesus Sits at God’s Right Hand (the position of POWER AND AUTHORITY)

1 John 2:1-2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2) He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus now sits at God’s right hand 1As our High Priest he intercedes for us as we pray

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Jesus now sits at God’s right hand 1As our High Priest he intercedes for us as we pray 2As our Prophet he guides us with his Word

Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Ephesians 1:20-23 [The mighty power] which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Jesus now sits at God’s right hand 1As our High Priest he intercedes for us as we pray 2As our Prophet he guides us with his Word 3As our King he rules all things for our good

JESUS WILL COME AGAIN Acts 1:11 "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

Acts 10:39-43 "We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, 40) but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41) He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen--by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42) He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43) All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

JESUS WILL COME AGAIN Jesus will come again as Judge of the living and the dead.

JESUS WILL COME AGAIN (Matthew 24:36) "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
