The significance of NARS in the quality assurance and accreditation process 1.Ensure that graduates of Egyptian Universities are recognized world wide 2.Clear statements of academic standards 3.Guidance to institutions developing their programme specifications

To build the capacity in the universities to share in defining of (NARS) of Veterinary higher education Purpose of the Workshop

Glossary Academic standards Specific standards decided by the institution, and informed by external references and including the minimum knowledge and skills to be gained by the graduates from the programme and fulfilling the stated mission of the institution. المعايير الأكاديمية: هي مستوى من المتطلبات التي يجب على المؤسسة التعليمية من خلال البرنامج التعليمي أن تحققها لكي تضمن أن الخريج قد أكتسب الحد الأدنى من المعرفة والمهارات بما يتفق مع رسالة المؤسسة.

A general statement of the professional role of a graduate Veterinarian will include 1.Maintenance and promotion of good animal, birds and fish heath. 2.The origin diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and injury as well their impact on animals 3.Increasing animal, birds and fish production. 4.Maintaining human health, food and environment safety 5.He is proactive in ensuring the currency and relevance of knowledge and skills

The attributes of a veterinarian A profound knowledge and under standing of normal animals, Birds, and fish structure and function as well as abnormalities that occur in common disease. Attributes of the typical graduate 1.The graduate has a profound knowledge and understanding of normal animal, poultry and fish structure and function, as well as abnormalities that occur in common diseases. 2.The graduate has the skills of animal management and behavior within a safe environment. 3.The graduate can diagnose, assess, prevent and treat common and important animal diseases in a variety of settings. 4.The graduate contributes in solving complex animal diseases, welfare and environmental problems in the surrounding society.

5. The graduate contributes in increasing under standing in the society by application of scientific methods in research and analysis working collaborative with other professionals. 6. The graduate operates with respect for the legal and other regulations and applies the Veterinary code of practice including ethics. 7. The graduates has a profound knowledge and understanding on the economic impact and factors on delivery of animal health care, as well as nutrition and nutritional standards. 8. The graduate has the appropriate professional and personal attitudes and behavior, including critical evaluation, curiosity and life long learning skills as well as ethical and legal frame of medical practice. 9. The graduate is proficient in basic veterinary clinical skills and interpret the findings to demonstrate competence in the performance of basic technical procedures.

Example – 1 one attribute of a veterinarian: The graduate can diagnose, assess, prevent and treat common and important animal diseases in a variety of settings Example – 2 ARS -knowledge and understanding -represent the disease problem based on scientific evidence -clinical examination principles -disease agents identification -principles of solving disease problems -pharmacological & therapeutic basis

Intellectual skills Graduate has the ability to highlight the important clinical problem from a case interaction and utilizing available data

Professional skills Graduate has the ability to -handle the animal -identify the etiological agents -use laboratory tests, clinical examination and software to find out information relevant to the clinical problem -Read and interpretation of diagnostic tests -Prescribe the remedy

General and transferable skills Graduate has the ability to utilize communicating skills get access to web sites to. perform a research or solve any newly emerged disease problem
