World Language in Grades 7-8  All 6 th graders entering Oceanside Middle School next year are scheduled to remain in Spanish in grades 7 and 8, unless you inform us otherwise.  Students who continue with Spanish in middle school are on the path to completing their 3 credit sequence for an Advanced Regents Diploma in grade 9, a full year earlier than their peers.  Once at the high school, students of Spanish can either continue on to more advanced level Spanish courses, and/or begin to study a second or even third world language in grades  Students who continue in Spanish have three different ways to gain college credit BEFORE graduating high school, through College Spanish in conjunction with Long Island University, through AP Spanish Language and Culture, or AP Spanish Literature and Culture.

Last year…  125 students completed 6 college credits in Spanish, and 28 students completed 3 college credits in Spanish, before graduating high school.  7 students completed 3 college credits in Italian before graduating high school.  5 students completed 3 college credits in French before graduating high school.
