WATER – A CRITICAL RESOURCE FOR UZBEKISTAN’S FUTURE National Policy of Water Resources Management and Natural Resources Use Matluba Fazilova Institute of Strategic and Regional Study under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Main principles :   Integration of economic and ecological policy aimed at conservation and restoration of environment as the essential conditions for improvement of population living standards;   Transition from protection of some nature elements to the general and integrated protection of ecosystems;   Responsibility of all members of society for environment protection, conservation of its biodiversity and improvement of its conditions, creation of the favorable conditions for life population. The Main Aims :   to promote the rational use of water and to protect water resources.   to improve the efficiency and reliability of the country’s water sector management,   ensuring guaranteed water delivery   providing essential services both to society and natural ecosystems. The Main Priorities:  water saving in all types water consumption and improving water quality;  development of systems for supplying the population with good quality drinking water;   restoration of soil fertility and improvement of the agro landscapes;  mitigation of the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis through an integrated approach to decision-making on interrelated regional and national issues.
