What is Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence (RMPEx)? A self-supporting, 501c3 non-profit volunteer (~100) organization, affiliated with the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program; focused on helping organizations improve their performance. The Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program was established by Congress in 1988 to – identify/recognize role model organizations – establish criteria for performance excellence, based on role model activities, to promote performance improvement efforts – disseminate/share best practices, as found in role model organizations.

The RMPEx/Baldrige Process The RMPEx/Baldrige Criteria tells organizations (through the criteria questions) how to integrate performance excellence into their activities. To self-assess, apply for feedback and/or an award,, organizations explain how they perform those activities. A team of examiners analyze the maturity of those activities. A feedback report is generated describing organizational strengths and opportunities for improvement (OFIs). Organizations create plans to sustain the strengths and address the OFIs.

Criteria Question Framework X Results not required at the Foothills Level

Activity Maturity Evaluation Examiners review the organization’s answers to the criteria questions and evaluate the maturity of the response. At the Foothills level, the examiners review the organization’s approaches – Well-ordered, repeatable, uses data/information to promote improvement (systematic)? – Appropriate to the criteria question and the organization’s needs? – Effective?

Evaluation Factors at higher levels (Timberline and Peak) Deployment: extent to which the approach is applied Learning: the evaluation and improvement of the approach Integration: the consistency of approach to organization needs The examination team will not explore these factors during this site visit.
