For my E, I researched Egyptian Hieroglyphics Hieroglyphics was the writing system used in Ancient Egypt. Over 5,000 different glyphs existed, some words, some letters. They are written vertically, top to bottom. The symbols were figured out by Jean-Francois Champollion in 1822 using the Rosetta Stone.
