EVERYDAY SOCIETY

Rock n Roll was a large aspect of the 1950’s as it had affected the lives of many. Teens became more independent as they were able to buy their own records instead of listening to the tunes their parents enjoyed. Rock n Roll stirred everyday life as it was a large contrast to the things people were used to, such as music by Frank Sinatra who thought Rock n Roll vile and imbecilic. As Rock n Roll increased in popularity, discrimination decreased as well. This genre of music was able to unite teens no matter their color. Chuck Berry was the first black Rock n Roll singer that was able to appeal to all audiences, despite their race. Other singers included Elvis Presley and Little Richard. With this new wave of music, teens became more rebellious and changed the ways of fashion. They changed the norm of formal, tight fitting clothing to loose and unrestricting to allow them to dance and be more free. ROCK N ROLL STRIKES THE YOUTH
