What do we hope to achieve ? lEffective implementation of the European Research Area by encouraging a specific “playing field” for research to support all EU policies lSystemic improvement in the relationships between research and policy at all levels in the EU lA more coherent research base, reflecting the increasing integration of policies and the science that underpins them lTimely and effective scientific inputs to Community policies, with improved uptake of results at national and EU levels
