…[2] preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. [3] For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, [4] and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. (2 Timothy 4:2-4 ESV) Armegeddon ? Revelation ? 2012 doctrine ? Last days ? Charismatics ?

Mark 16:17-20 "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18. they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." 19. So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20. And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.]

Acts 2:16-18 but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 17. `AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, `THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS; 18. EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT And they shall prophesy.

How Were They Bestowed ? Acts 1:4-5,8; 2:16 Acts 1:4-5,8; 2:16 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; [5] for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” [8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” [16] But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: [17] “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, [17] “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams Baptism with the Spirit

Promised only to the apostles [16] And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, (John 14:16 ESV) [4] And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; [5] for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Acts 1:4-5 ESV)

Given as a sign for acceptance of the Gentiles [44] While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. [45] And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. [46] For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, [47] “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” (Acts 10:44-47 ESV)

Verse 13 / “Until”, “Till” A preposition of time denoting a certain time limit. Examples… We live till we die! “I will come and visit and stay until New Years.” “We didn’t stay until the end of the game.” “Spiritual gifts were given until/till…

(Jude 1:3 ESV) [3] eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. [4] There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— [5] one Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6] one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:3-6 ESV) The Faith was unified when it all was given

[11] And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, [12] to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, [13] until we all attain to… the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, Ephesians 4:11-13 [3] His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, (2 Peter 1:3 ESV) WE HAVE the knowledge of Christ in the Scriptures

(2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV) The Scriptures bring us to maturity

(Ephesians 1:22-23 ESV) The FULLNESS of Christ is the church

The Time for spiritual gifts to exist? “Until we attain to…” …the unity of the faith, …the unity of the faith, …the knowledge of the Son of God…, …the knowledge of the Son of God…, …a mature man, …a mature man, …to the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. …to the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. The faith IS unified The faith IS unified The knowledge of Christ is in Scripture The knowledge of Christ is in Scripture The scriptures make us mature/complete The scriptures make us mature/complete The church IS at it’s full stature The church IS at it’s full stature The time for spiritual gifts to exist was UNTILL the scriptures were complete!

The Result ? “…no longer to be…” …children …children …tossed here and there… …tossed here and there… …carried about by every wind of doctrine …carried about by every wind of doctrine …by the trickery of men …by the trickery of men …by craftiness in deceitful scheming …by craftiness in deceitful scheming This obviously take place here, on the earth, not in heaven!
